Online Assistant

About the role

As an Online Assistant you will play a key part in delivering a seamless shopping experience for Sainsbury’s online customers. You will pick and prepare orders, handle substitutions, and support customers throughout the fulfilment process.

Key responsibilities

• Pick and select high‑quality products for online orders, offering suitable substitutions when items are out of stock.
• Use a handheld device to plan routes, track picking times and ensure efficient store navigation.
• Process customer queries, manage order details and assist with loading delivery vans.
• Provide proactive customer support and product recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, organised store environment and move shopping containers up to 15 kg.

Required profile

• Comfortable with early‑morning shifts (often starting at 4 am) and a fast‑paced, physical work environment.
• Friendly, enthusiastic and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Initiative‑driven, detail‑oriented and able to adapt to new digital tools.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 15 kg and maintaining store cleanliness.
