Operations/ Contracts Manager - Essex

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager with a mechanical bias to lead our M&E building services team. This senior‑level position offers the chance to shape operational excellence while progressing towards a future Director role.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of mechanical and electrical (M&E) building services, ensuring projects and maintenance are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop and implement operational strategies that optimise efficiency and performance across all technical services.
• Oversee compliance with health and safety regulations, industry standards and internal policies.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of technical professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders to maintain clear communication and high satisfaction levels.
• Monitor operational performance, identify improvement areas and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to long‑term business strategy and support organisational growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar role within the mechanical and electrical building services sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, including installation and maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
