Operations Director

About the role

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Operations Director will shape and execute the operational strategy that supports the company’s growth and long‑term vision. The role oversees manufacturing, planning, warehousing, systems and supply‑chain functions, ensuring efficiency, safety and profitability while driving digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the operational strategy in partnership with the Managing Director and senior leaders.
• Translate business objectives into a clear operational roadmap across all functions.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing operations leadership team.
• Drive performance in cost, quality, service, efficiency and delivery.
• Champion continuous improvement and operational‑excellence culture.
• Lead automation, systems development and Industry 4.0 digital initiatives.
• Oversee manufacturing capacity, planning, warehousing and supply‑chain performance.
• Ensure robust budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Build data‑led performance reporting and KPI governance frameworks.
• Develop capability, succession planning and workforce engagement.
• Maintain compliance, safety, sustainability and risk‑management standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior operations leadership experience in UK FMCG manufacturing.
• Track record of delivering operational strategy aligned with business growth.
• Experience leading transformation, automation or systems implementation.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Data‑driven decision‑making and performance management.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strategic, calm and decisive under pressure; inspirational and collaborative style.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (or similar ERP system)
