Operations Manager – Adventure Travel

About the role

Alpine Exploratory is seeking an enthusiastic Operations Manager to lead the delivery of self‑guided and guided walking holidays across the Alps, the UK and Europe. Based in our central Edinburgh office, you will combine hands‑on client support with strategic oversight of trip logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee the logistics of self‑guided and guided walking holidays, ensuring smooth execution from booking to post‑trip follow‑up.
• Respond to client enquiries, process bookings and arrange accommodation, baggage and transport services.
• Analyse trip data and customer feedback to recommend new products, adapt existing itineraries or retire under‑performing routes.
• Run weekly team meetings to share updates, brainstorm ideas and monitor accommodation availability.
• Provide on‑call support during the high season (May‑mid‑September), covering phone and email enquiries and resolving time‑sensitive issues.
• Collaborate across departments, stepping in where needed to support a small, collaborative team.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for adventure travel.
• Strong organisational and leadership abilities, able to transition from hands‑on tasks to a supervisory role.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset.
• Willingness to work shift patterns and occasional weekend on‑call duties during the peak season.

Required skills

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £36,000 and £42,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Permanent contract with a six‑month probationary period.
• Full‑time office‑based role (Monday‑Friday, 9am‑5pm) with shift options during the high season.
• Paid on‑call weekend work, days in lieu and overtime premium.
