Operations Manager – Energy from Waste Plant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day activities at a new Energy‑from‑Waste plant in Walsall. The role ensures the facility meets performance targets, operates safely, and aligns production with both short‑ and long‑term strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Manage 20+ operations staff, including shift teams and day staff.
• Ensure continuous compliance with environmental regulations.
• Liaise with the Maintenance Manager and other personnel on projects, outages, and plant improvements.
• Oversee third‑party contractors.
• Prepare and work within the annual operations budget.
• Coordinate with company directors, external stakeholders, and the Facility Manager on recruitment and operational matters.
• Deputise for the Facility Manager when required.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ operational/engineering management experience on a large process plant, preferably in power generation or related sectors.
• At least five years in a senior supervisory role with budget and commercial responsibility.
• Experience of plant mobilisation and commissioning is highly advantageous.
• Relevant engineering degree or apprenticeship qualification.
• Health & safety certification (IOSH or NEBOSH).
• Full UK driving licence.
