Operations Service Officer – Security Services

About the role

The Operations Service Officer provides essential administration support to the Security Services Group (SSG) operations teams, either at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) or the South West (SW) hub. The role ensures that security system installations, maintenance activities and customer interactions are managed efficiently, cost‑effectively and to the high standards required by the Ministry of Defence.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for customer call‑outs and log incidents in the SSG maintenance system (CASH).
• Allocate jobs to SZ4 technicians, monitor progress, close jobs and generate quotations.
• Prepare and raise invoices for clients in line with desk notes and contractual terms.
• Create requisitions for training, parts, access hire, clothing, PPE and other required items.
• Enter staff operation timesheets, maintain filing systems and archive project documentation.
• Provide occasional travel to various SSG offices and AWE sites as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in administrative or office support roles, preferably within a security or defence environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with customers, technicians and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel between AWE, Shrivenham and other SSG locations.
• Ability to work on a 37‑hour week schedule, including occasional overtime.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the CASH maintenance system for logging and tracking service calls.
