Optical AIT Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Optical AIT Engineer to join our experienced engineering team and help deliver transformative laser communications technology for our TERRA‑M Optical Ground Station products.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate and test optomechanical subsystems and complete optical ground stations, and develop ground‑support test equipment.
• Manage supply‑chain activities, including ordering, receiving and qualifying outsourced components and maintaining inventory.
• Document and ensure quality of build processes, collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturing methods and resolve technical issues.
• Support field maintenance, deployment and installation of systems worldwide, including international travel as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Academic background in physics or a related field.
• Proven hands‑on experience assembling, integrating and testing complex optical assemblies.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work independently in a laboratory environment.
• Willingness to travel internationally for customer deployments and field activities.

Required skills

• Laser communications or free‑space optics.
• Precision optical alignment and optomechanical assembly.
• Transitioning products from prototype to serial production.
• Experience in the space, photonics or aerospace industry.
• Continuous improvement and manufacturing process optimisation.
