Optical Assistant – Dispensing Optician Programme

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Optical Assistant to join Specsavers in Bellshill. This 3‑year programme combines on‑the‑job training with study, leading to qualification as a Dispensing Optician.

Key responsibilities

• Assist qualified opticians with patient consultations and frame dispensing.
• Prepare and maintain optical equipment and stock.
• Provide excellent customer service and support throughout the eye‑care journey.
• Participate in structured learning sessions and complete coursework for the Dispensing Optician qualification.

Required profile

• Minimum Nat 5 Maths and English at grade B or above, plus a Higher in Physics, Biology or Chemistry.
• Available to commit to a full‑time 30+ hour week (or 32‑hour part‑time schedule) for the three‑year duration.
• UK resident with the right to work and study for the entire programme.
• Not currently enrolled in an Optometry degree or another government‑funded course.
