Outdoor Education Teacher – Alternative Provision (Rochdale)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified teacher with a passion for outdoor learning to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Rochdale. The role involves delivering a curriculum where outdoor education is central, helping pupils aged 11‑16 develop confidence, resilience and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver outdoor education sessions alongside PSHE and personal development.
• Lead adventurous activities such as canoeing, orienteering, bushcraft, problem‑solving and team‑building.
• Organise educational visits, enrichment activities and residential trips where appropriate.
• Build relationships with outdoor providers, activity centres and community organisations.
• Support pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety and other additional needs using trauma‑informed approaches.
• Collaborate closely with families, colleagues and external agencies to monitor pupil progress.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher (Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent).
• Experience in outdoor education, adventure learning, forest school, Duke of Edinburgh, bushcraft or related fields.
• Ability to work with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health needs or SEND.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
