Overnight Helpline Counsellor

About the role

Join a leading Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider as an Overnight Helpline Counsellor. You will work remotely, delivering 24/7 emotional support to callers across the private, public and non‑profit sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide immediate telephone counselling and emotional support during the 8 pm‑8 am shift.
• Conduct clinical assessments and sign‑post callers to appropriate services.
• Adopt a solution‑focused approach to achieve one‑call resolution where possible.
• Maintain accurate records of calls and follow organisational protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Counselling with at least 150 counselling hours.
• At least 12 months post‑qualification experience.
• Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
• Previous experience working night shifts.

Required skills

• Strong telephone communication and active listening abilities.
• Ability to assess risk and provide appropriate sign‑posting.
• Solution‑focused counselling techniques.
