Parts Manager – Stock & Supplier Management

About the role

The Parts Manager will lead the Parts Department, ensuring workshop and field service engineers receive the correct components when needed. This hands‑on position requires strong organisational abilities, commercial awareness, and close collaboration with service and engineering teams to maintain optimal stock levels and control costs.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Parts Department, managing stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships.
• Coordinate parts supply for workshop and field engineers, ensuring timely fulfilment of requirements.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular stock checks, and investigate discrepancies.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to support cost control and profitability.
• Support the Service Department by reducing engineer downtime through effective parts availability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in parts management, supervision or a senior parts role within an engineering, automotive, plant or machinery environment.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, including supplier negotiation.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight stays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using stock management software.
• Familiarity with Protean or similar parts/service management systems (training provided).
