About the role
We are looking for a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to join our finance team on a part‑time basis (2 days / 14 hours per week). You will support the financial operations of a life‑sciences company focused on neurodegenerative research, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and reconcile data in accounting software.
- Process supplier invoices, credit notes and expenses via Hubdoc, schedule payments and reconcile supplier statements.
- Issue customer invoices, monitor outstanding balances, follow up on overdue accounts and allocate payments.
- Reconcile bank and credit‑card accounts using automated feeds and manage petty cash.
- Assist with VAT return preparation and ensure compliance with legislation and company policy.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial summaries, including profit & loss, cash‑flow and balance‑sheet reports.
- Maintain financial filing systems, aid budgeting and forecasting, and help with year‑end audits.
Required profile
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles and UK accounting practices.
- Experience with accounting software; knowledge of Xero and Hubdoc is a strong advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in remote or hybrid settings while handling confidential information sensitively.
- Strong numerical ability, analytical thinking and good communication skills.
