Passenger Assistant – 15 hrs/week (West Norwood)

About the role

Join London Hire Community Services as a Passenger Assistant, helping children and adults with disabilities travel safely to and from school. This part‑time, split‑shift position supports the driver and ensures a comfortable, secure journey for all passengers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the driver in maintaining passenger safety and comfort.
• Help passengers board and alight, including those with disabilities, following health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Monitor passenger welfare during transit and respond to any issues.
• Operate passenger lifts or other boarding equipment as required.
• Secure wheelchairs with appropriate restraints and safety belts.
• Communicate politely and clearly with passengers and clients.
• Report late running, incidents, and ensure the vehicle is secure while in use.
• Use communication equipment correctly to support smooth service operation.

Required profile

• Understanding of various disabilities and the ability to assist respectfully.
• Patient, level‑headed attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to complete records accurately.

Required skills

• 15 hours per week on a split‑shift (AM/PM) basis.
• No mandatory work during school holidays; overtime may be available.
• Pro‑rated salary paid monthly (£14.80 per hour).
