Payroll Administrator (Part‑time)

About the role

The Education Trust in East Cornwall is looking for a part‑time Payroll Administrator to manage the end‑to‑end payroll for roughly 250 staff across its primary schools. Reporting to the CFO, you will work independently while receiving support from the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees.
• Handle payroll changes such as starters, leavers, contractual amendments and absences.
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and relevant legislation.
• Respond to payroll queries from staff and management.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and produce required reports.
• Support audit and compliance activities and meet strict monthly cut‑off dates.

Required profile

• Significant experience in payroll administration.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Organisational and communication skills with experience meeting strict deadlines.
• Experience in the education sector is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• EduPay payroll software (training can be provided).
