Payroll & HR Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll & HR Specialist to lead payroll operations across multiple business entities in Weston‑super‑Mare. The role combines end‑to‑end payroll processing with broader people‑function projects, offering ownership and the chance to influence processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage payroll activities for several entities, ensuring accurate runs and timely payments.
• Validate payroll data, reconcile discrepancies and calculate statutory payments such as maternity and sickness.
• Produce payroll reports and analyse people data using Excel and large datasets.
• Support employee lifecycle administration and documentation.
• Enhance payroll processes, systems and ways of working, contributing to a new people system rollout.
• Build trusted relationships across the business and act as a go‑to advisor for managers and employees.

Required profile

• Proven end‑to‑end payroll experience, preferably handling multiple companies or entities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot and resolve pay discrepancies.
• Proactive, independent mindset with a continuous‑improvement approach.
• Confidence working with payroll and HR platforms.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel capability.
• Experience with payroll systems.
