Payroll Manager

About the role

The Payroll Manager will lead the payroll function for a large healthcare organisation employing over 3,000 staff. Based in the Central Bromley office, you will ensure accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise end‑to‑end payroll for all entities, overseeing imports, exports, pay elements and system maintenance.
• Guarantee payrolls are processed accurately, on time and in line with statutory deadlines and company policies.
• Maintain complete audit trails and secure payroll data handling.
• Review payroll calculations, including gross/net wages, statutory payments, pension deductions and reconciliations.
• Stay up‑to‑date with UK payroll legislation and HMRC regulations.
• Oversee all statutory submissions such as FPS, EPS, PAYE, NI, P45, P60 and year‑end reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance, HR, Operations, IT and external providers to deliver an efficient payroll service.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a payroll team in a large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI and statutory reporting requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate audit records.
• Effective people‑management skills, leading a team of payroll officers.
