People Advisor – HR Advisory Role

About the role

We are looking for a People Advisor to join a people‑focused organisation on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role provides expert HR advice and support to managers and colleagues, with hybrid working (two days remote).

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on recruitment, retention, performance, conduct, remuneration, retirement and absence.
• Manage a caseload of employee‑relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance and performance cases.
• Advise on sickness absence, long‑term ill health, redeployment and early retirement, attending review meetings and home visits when required.
• Build trusted relationships with managers, leaders and trade‑union representatives to promote positive employee relations.
• Support leaders in delivering effective people performance management using policies, procedures, data and systems.
• Contribute to the People Strategy, corporate plans and transformation projects, including learning needs analysis and people development.
• Support apprenticeship programmes – recruitment, selection, induction, absence and conduct processes.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualification.
• Proven track record of delivering an effective people advisory service.
• Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practice and risk management.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• High IT literacy and strong organisational skills, maintaining confidential records accurately.

What we offer

• Annual salary of £36,651.
