Personal Tax Manager – Watford

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join a well‑established accountancy practice in Watford. You will own a diverse portfolio of private clients, delivering high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services while supporting junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including high‑net‑worth individuals, directors, sole traders and partnerships.
• Review and prepare self‑assessment tax returns.
• Provide proactive personal tax planning and advisory services.
• Advise on capital gains tax, inheritance tax, residency and other specialist areas.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted adviser.
• Ensure client deadlines are met and compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Liaise directly with HMRC on behalf of clients.
• Support, mentor and review the work of junior tax team members.
• Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• ATT and/or CTA qualified (or qualified by experience).
• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice or specialist tax environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax legislation.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive approach with a commitment to outstanding client service.
