Personal Tax Senior – Hybrid – £35k-£45k

About the role

We are seeking a Personal Tax Senior to join our independent accountancy practice in Colchester. The role offers hybrid working, autonomy over a private client portfolio and the chance to develop advisory expertise while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients and meeting compliance deadlines.
• Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment tax returns and personal tax computations.
• Advising clients on Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and broader personal tax planning.
• Handling HMRC correspondence and resolving complex tax queries.
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting advisory projects.
• Reviewing work of junior colleagues and providing mentorship.
• Building and maintaining long‑term client relationships.

Required profile

• ATT qualified (CTA or CTA studying is advantageous).
• Previous experience in personal tax within a UK accountancy practice.
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of private clients.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax compliance.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Proactive, organised and analytical approach.
