Pharmacist - Clinical Pharmacy

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacy Pharmacist works under the Manager of Clinical Services to deliver direct pharmaceutical care to both in‑patients and out‑patients within the Oncology Clinic. The role is part of an interdisciplinary team and involves patient counseling, medication monitoring, and collaboration with community pharmacists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient counseling and medication monitoring for oncology patients.
• Mentor pharmacy students and conduct drug utilization reviews.
• Liaise with community pharmacists to ensure continuity of care.
• Deliver education and drug information to staff and patients.
• Participate in clinical pharmacy research projects led by the Clinical Division Manager.

Required profile

• Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy.
• Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR).
• Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program or at least two years of direct patient‑care experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of medication safety and therapeutics.
• Experience in evidence‑based clinical research and critical appraisal of scientific literature.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and prioritize under time pressure.
