Platform Engineer

About the role

Barclays is looking for a Platform Engineer to drive the evolution of its digital landscape. Based in Glasgow, you will work within Foundations Engineering on the new strategic Container Registry and Artifact Platform, modernising and protecting the software development lifecycle for thousands of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned languages, frameworks and tools.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in code reviews, promote code quality and share knowledge across teams.
• Stay informed of technology trends and contribute to internal technical communities.
• Apply secure coding practices and implement effective unit testing.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AWS services (networking, compute, storage) and ECS.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation.
• Solid Java engineering background focused on backend and infrastructure tooling.
• Understanding of secure software development, cloud cost optimisation and platform observability.
