Platform Engineer – Secure Digital Solutions

About the role

SiXworks is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build and deliver secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions. You will work in a highly secure environment, collaborating with architects, engineers and delivery specialists to enable faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines for secure, scalable delivery.
• Develop and maintain automation tooling and Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, Ansible and related technologies.
• Support the upgrade, maintenance and operation of core platforms, systems and services.
• Participate in architecture and design of new deployments, create proofs‑of‑concept and guide them to production readiness.
• Produce high‑quality documentation, diagrams and design artefacts.
• Collaborate with development, QA, operations and support teams to ensure smooth integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning.
• Apply secure‑by‑design principles, conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with security, scalability and maintainability requirements.

Required skills

• CI/CD tooling (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman).
• Linux and/or Windows administration.
• Scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Documentation platforms (Confluence, Sharepoint).
