Police Call Handler / Dispatcher (Zero Hours)

About the role
Join Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Demand Hub as a Police Call Handler or Dispatcher. You will be the first point of contact for emergency and non‑emergency callers, providing calm, clear guidance while supporting police officers on the ground.
Key responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non‑emergency calls with professionalism and care.
- Assess situations quickly, ask relevant questions and relay concise information to callers and officers.
- Dispatch police units to incidents, monitor progress and update incident logs.
- Coordinate with other emergency services and record crime details.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including tracking units and managing call queues.
Required profile
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and think fast.
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Empathy and composure when dealing with distressed callers.
- Willingness to learn new computer systems quickly.
- No prior experience required – full training provided.
