PR and Communications Officer – Marketing & Communications

About the role

The City of Liverpool College is seeking a PR and Communications Officer to join its Marketing and Communications team. This newly created position will strengthen the college’s external storytelling, raise its profile with media, partners and stakeholders, and showcase the achievements of students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and distribute press releases, news stories and statements to local, regional and sector media.
• Act as the primary point of contact for media enquiries, escalating when necessary.
• Identify and develop story ideas that highlight student success, staff achievement and community impact.
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and coordinate interviews, briefings and filming requests.
• Produce high‑quality written content for external audiences, including case studies, award submissions and partnership materials.
• Interview students, staff, alumni and partners to create compelling testimonials.
• Repurpose content across the college website, social media and partner communications.
• Collaborate with the Business Development and Employer Engagement team to plan stakeholder communications and produce a regular partner email using the college’s CRM.
• Support crisis communications and develop reactive statements as directed.

Required profile

• Excellent written communication skills with confidence in producing press‑ready material.
• Strong relationship‑building ability and ease of engaging with media and external partners.
• Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Interest in higher education and a passion for promoting student and staff achievements.
