Press Tooling Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Press Tooling Engineer to lead the repair and maintenance of assembly and press tooling equipment for a leading engineering client in Sunderland. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing preventative maintenance and driving continuous improvement to maximise machine availability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead repair and maintenance of all assembly and press tooling equipment, ensuring timely completion.
• Diagnose equipment faults accurately and carry out repairs to maximise uptime.
• Execute planned and preventative maintenance programmes to reduce breakdowns.
• Drive geometry improvement initiatives through technical expertise.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and QMS processes.
• Maintain legal, regulatory and safety compliance, including PUWER and power press regulations.
• Manage spare parts procurement, tooling and maintenance resources.
• Record RPO and MTTR data using electronic reporting systems.
• Mentor engineering apprentices and uphold high housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship in Die Maintenance, Toolmaking or equivalent.
• ONC or equivalent level qualification.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Proactive attitude with strong problem‑solving abilities.
