Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (Temporary, Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support mixed‑ability classes in a Torquay school. The role starts immediately and runs until the end of the academic year, offering 30 hours per week during term time and INSET days.

Key responsibilities

• Support the educational and social development of pupils, including those with SEM‑EM and SEND.
• Assist teachers in preparing and delivering differentiated activities.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
• Facilitate group and individual learning sessions, adapting to individual needs.
• Participate in professional development and INSET training days.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, especially with SEM‑EM and SEND pupils.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Patience, resilience and a commitment to student welfare.
