Principal Engineer – Electrical Power

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Electrical Engineering Power team. You will be responsible for delivering robust electrical power system designs, ensuring compliance, and supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through to customer acceptance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design solutions that meet agreed time, cost and quality targets.
• Define and manage system requirements and acceptance criteria across platforms and programmes.
• Produce design review documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, calculations and justification evidence.
• Review supplier documentation and support equipment acceptance, integration, installation and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical support for performance testing, defect resolution and change management.
• Assist in estimating scope of work and resource requirements for bids, proposals and project planning.

Required profile

• BEng (Hons) or MEng (or equivalent) with CEng status or ability to achieve it.
• Proven experience across the engineering lifecycle, particularly with AC and DC electrical power systems.
• Strong understanding of contractual and performance requirements for complex systems.
