Prison & Community Project Worker

About the role

This full‑time position supports individuals transitioning from custody to community across prisons and probation sites in the Thames Valley. You will travel between locations in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, delivering personalised plans that help clients reintegrate successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support to clients approaching release or recently released on licence.
• Develop and monitor structured reintegration plans covering housing, health, education, wellbeing, life skills and employment.
• Collaborate closely with probation officers, partner agencies and community services to ensure consistent support.
• Cover annual leave, sickness and peak periods for the wider team, offering flexible assistance as needed.

Required profile

• Experience working with people in the criminal justice system (prison, probation or community settings).
• Background in supporting vulnerable groups such as those with mental health, substance misuse or homelessness.
• Criminology graduates with relevant voluntary or paid experience are encouraged to apply.

• Strong knowledge of criminal‑justice processes and resettlement pathways.
• Ability to build trust‑based relationships with clients and partner organisations.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
