Private Equity Portfolio Finance Manager (Hybrid)

About the role

This is a senior leadership opportunity to build and lead a central finance function for a fast‑growing private‑equity backed group. You will shape a modern, accountancy‑practice style finance operation that supports a diverse portfolio of businesses across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, workflows and procedural controls.
• Design and implement scalable systems, reporting frameworks and service‑delivery processes.
• Support senior partners with strategic planning, growth initiatives, financial targets and KPI monitoring.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance operations and client service delivery.
• Build strong relationships with portfolio companies, investors and external advisors.
• Act as a trusted finance advisor to business leaders, handling commercial and technical queries.
• Liaise with HMRC, external providers and professional advisors.
• Manage work‑in‑progress, billing, debtors and compliance reporting.

Required profile

• Commercially minded finance professional with senior leadership experience.
• Background in a Big 4 or top‑tier practice, combined with a private‑equity mindset.
• Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders, investors and portfolio leadership teams.
• Strong client‑relationship and team‑leadership capabilities.
• Strategic thinker comfortable with rapid growth and acquisition environments.
