Process Safety Engineer

About the role

Stena Drilling is looking for a Process Safety Engineer based in Grampian, Scotland. The role covers the safety case, major accident hazards and process safety performance of its vessels, working with Technical Authorities, the Competent Authority and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain vessel safety cases and supporting formal safety assessment studies.
• Develop and maintain bow-tie diagrams for major accident hazards linked to vessel operations.
• Assist Technical Authorities in identifying safety and environmentally critical elements (SECEs) and their performance standards and assurance activities.
• Keep the real-time digital barrier and process safety monitoring solution (Presight) maintained and improved.
• Review operational risk assessments for temporarily degraded plant, process and people barriers.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments for management of change.
• Help develop emergency response plans for the major accident hazards in the safety case.
• Create process safety training material for the offshore workforce.
• Coordinate inspections by the Competent Authority (OMAR/OPRED) and ensure findings are closed out on time.
• Control documents sent to regulators so statutory documentation is submitted on time.
• Review industry standards against asset integrity procedures and liaise with clients on process safety issues during rig acceptance and operation.
• Support the integration of human factors into the management system and manage external consultancy relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience managing major accident hazards in the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Sound knowledge of offshore safety legislation, guidance and industry standards.
• Knowledge of offshore drilling operations and associated equipment.
