Production Engineer Team Leader

About the role

Planet Recruitment is partnering with an innovative manufacturing organisation in Abingdon to find a Production Engineer Team Leader. You will head the Production Engineering department, ensuring smooth daily operations, driving continuous improvement and supporting new product introductions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the daily activities of the Production Engineering team, setting priorities and allocating workloads.
• Collaborate with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and investigate line rejects.
• Support change‑control processes and conduct software system testing.
• Drive lean manufacturing, cost‑reduction and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Oversee testing protocols and validation for new or revised products.
• Work with Purchasing and Sourcing on sample approvals, supplier validation and occasional supplier visits.
• Train, mentor and develop team members.
• Manage product lifecycle activities including component obsolescence, quality improvements and functional enhancements.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams on investigations, corrective actions and preventative measures.
• Facilitate the introduction of new products into manufacturing.

Required profile

• Degree or HNC in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience in design, manufacturing or production engineering.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and change‑management experience.
