Production Manager – Coffin Factory

About the role

We are launching a brand‑new coffin factory in Knowsley and need a Production Manager to shape the site from day one. You will lead a team of around 50 colleagues, ensuring high‑quality output for Co‑op Funeralcare’s 90,000 coffins per year.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of ~50 staff, including five direct reports.
• Take full accountability for production, meeting quality standards and output targets.
• Drive performance, waste reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain a safe work environment and enforce health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers.
• Support recruitment and onboarding ahead of the site launch.
• Help build a culture of care, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Previous management of teams of 30+ staff.
• Strong leadership, coaching and people‑development abilities.
• Commercial mindset with a focus on meeting targets.
• High attention to detail and a passion for quality.
• Experience working with unions is a plus.
