Production Manager

About the role

Butler Rose is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead a large‑scale manufacturing operation in Plymouth. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will own daily production, quality, safety and cost performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, service and cost targets.
• Develop and implement production plans aligned with customer demand and business objectives.
• Monitor operational performance through KPIs and drive corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Commercial teams to optimise performance.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to boost productivity and efficiency.
• Optimise workflow, workshop layouts, workstation design and production sequencing.
• Manage production costs, inventory control and utilisation of MRP/ERP systems.
• Lead, coach and develop a large production team, supporting apprenticeship and knowledge transfer programmes.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a senior manufacturing leadership role.
• Proven success managing large production teams within a manufacturing environment.
• Track record of delivering operational improvements and business performance.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, workforce management and performance optimisation.
• Excellent leadership, communication and people development skills.

Required skills

• Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Use of ERP/MRP systems for planning, scheduling and reporting.
