Production Manager – Manufacturing Operations Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations at our Sherborne facility. You will be responsible for ensuring output, quality and delivery targets are consistently met while fostering a safe and efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily production activities, monitoring output, quality and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate labour, materials, consumables and resources to maximise efficiency and utilisation.
• Manage and develop Team Leaders, Supervisors and production staff, including absence planning, overtime, performance reviews and training.
• Partner with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain and Maintenance to reduce scrap, rework and non‑conformances through root‑cause actions.
• Drive Lean initiatives such as 5S and TPM to improve right‑first‑time performance and operational flow.
• Ensure health, safety and compliance are embedded across the production environment, supporting risk assessments and incident investigations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Operations leader.
• Formal qualification (HNC, HND or equivalent) in Manufacturing, Engineering or Operations.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and production flow.
• Demonstrated people‑management capability with experience coaching teams.
• Experience managing Health & Safety in a manufacturing setting.
• Track record of delivering productivity improvements and waste reduction.

• Competitive salary of £60,000‑£70,000 per annum.
