Professional Negligence Senior Associate

About the role

Our client, a leading legal services organisation in Bristol, is expanding its Complex Litigation function. They are seeking a Professional Negligence Senior Associate to lead a team, deliver high‑quality advice and manage a targeted caseload of complex professional negligence disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop junior lawyers, embedding technical excellence and client‑care standards.
• Supervise case handling to ensure accuracy, efficiency and commercial outcomes.
• Manage a small caseload of complex professional negligence and misrepresentation claims, often funded by legal expenses insurance.
• Conduct early case assessments and shape dispute strategy.
• Ensure compliance with legal expenses insurance policy requirements and regulatory standards.
• Drive performance against SLAs, KPIs and financial targets.
• Support departmental strategy, change initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Use management information to monitor performance and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Promote a collaborative culture, knowledge sharing and excellence in customer outcomes.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) or equivalent.
• Strong experience handling professional negligence disputes, preferably in a senior or supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience in technical supervision, mentoring or team leadership.
• Experience working in an SRA‑regulated environment.
• Commercial awareness and ability to manage complex litigation strategically.
