Programmes HR Manager

About the role

As the Programmes HR Manager at MAG, you will provide trusted generalist HR advice and support to programmes across Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Sahel West Africa. You will work with regional directors, senior managers and local HR teams, advising on complex people issues, strengthening in‑country HR capability and managing risk across diverse legal and cultural contexts. The role includes occasional overseas travel.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver HR services and advice to programmes in multiple regions.
• Advise senior managers on complex, sensitive or high‑risk employee relations matters.
• Interpret employment law, policies and contracts across varied operating contexts.
• Strengthen and develop in‑country HR capacity and manage risk.
• Line‑manage the HR Advisor for Sahel West Africa.
• Contribute to HR policies, employment frameworks, reward structures and new programme set‑up.
• Support People and Culture projects and ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements.
• Undertake occasional travel to programme sites.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering HR services in an international or multi‑country setting.
• Experience advising senior managers on complex employee relations issues.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and ability to apply it across different jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated line‑management, coaching or mentoring experience.
• Ability to work autonomously and build effective relationships across cultures.
• International NGO experience desirable; fluency in French and/or Spanish highly desirable; Ukrainian a plus.
