Project Accountant - Qualified

About the role

Join a fast‑growing SME in Altrincham as a Project Accountant. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant who enjoys blending technical finance work with commercial insight and stakeholder interaction within a project‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly project invoicing and revenue billing cycle, ensuring accuracy and contractual compliance.
• Review project timesheets, rate cards and contracts to capture all billable activity.
• Collaborate with Project and Engagement Leads to monitor project performance, budgets and forecasts.
• Produce and analyse budget packs, highlighting over/underspend, risks and commercial opportunities.
• Facilitate monthly commercial review meetings with key stakeholders.
• Provide financial insight into project profitability, utilisation and revenue optimisation.
• Maintain accurate project, contract and commercial data in internal systems.
• Support business planning, revenue forecasts and the wider pipeline.
• Take ownership of invoices and deliverables within strict client SLAs.
• Assist with year‑end and audit requirements related to project revenue and invoicing.
• Build strong relationships across Finance, Operations, Delivery and Project teams.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA fully qualified (newly qualified candidates considered).
• Experience in a Project Accountant or similar project‑based finance role.
• Familiarity with project billing models such as staff/labour timesheets, time‑and‑material, fixed‑price or licensing.
• Proven ability to review contracts, rate cards, budgets and revenue.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.

What we offer

• Hybrid working after the first three months (Monday‑Friday, 9:00‑17:30).
• Salary range £54,000‑£60,000 per annum.
