Project Engineer – Smoke Ventilation & Fire Alarm Systems

About the role

Our client is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the delivery of high‑quality smoke ventilation and fire alarm systems across multiple sites in London and the South East. You will work closely with six Project Managers and a Technical Director, gaining exposure to all stages of project delivery and building a pathway towards a future Project Manager role.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and delivery of risk and method statements.
• Compile detailed project reports covering quality, progress, and issues.
• Measure and plan installation jobs and coordinate on‑site deliveries.
• Support the accounts team with project‑related financials and debt collection.
• Monitor project costs, provide profit/loss updates and financial forecasts.
• Communicate with subcontractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Manage resources according to the client’s programme and track progress.
• Ensure all documentation and certification is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Required profile

• Proven construction industry experience, ideally within smoke ventilation or fire alarm systems.
• Strong computer literacy with excellent reporting and organisational abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage cross‑disciplinary projects and make timely decisions.
• Professional, presentable and self‑motivated with a team‑oriented mindset.
• Full UK driving licence (own transport preferred).
