Project Financial Controller

About the role

The Project Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in monitoring and improving project margin performance across a portfolio of technology and engineering consultancy projects. Working closely with Technical Project Managers, you will ensure financial data is accurate, insightful and supports strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on project margin performance against half‑yearly targets, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Partner with Technical Project Managers to track revenue, costs and financial progress that impact margins.
• Analyse margin movements, provide narrative explanations and recommend actions to improve outcomes.
• Lead or support automation of margin reporting using Power BI, Excel and Power Query.
• Develop clear dashboards and reporting outputs for operational and leadership decision‑making.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project control processes, focusing on simplification, consistency and transparency.
• Act as a key user of the internal project management tool for margin calculation and presentation.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to project teams and leadership on margin analysis and performance tracking.

Required profile

• Experience in project financials, preferably within a technology, engineering or consultancy environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with project managers and senior leaders.
