Project Manager – Waste Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Waste Management Project Manager to join Buckinghamshire Council’s Waste Strategy team. You will lead the delivery of a portfolio of waste‑related projects, including the refresh of the Council’s Waste Strategy, to help increase recycling rates and meet legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute waste management projects and programmes across the county.
• Refresh and update the Waste Strategy in line with local and national policy drivers.
• Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Services Director, Head of Waste Strategy and heads of waste collection, disposal and procurement.
• Make high‑profile decisions within organisational governance frameworks.
• Manage multi‑disciplinary internal and external stakeholder groups.

Required profile

• Proven experience in waste management project delivery.
• Strong technical knowledge of waste collection, disposal and recycling processes.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote (any‑desk) environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
