Purchase Ledger Assistant – Temporary Finance Role

About the role

The Purchase Ledger Assistant will support the finance team of a leading global retail business in Stockport. This temporary, full‑time position is 100% office based and offers the chance to work on supplier invoice processing and ledger maintenance during a period of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and enter accurate data into the accounting system.
• Maintain and reconcile supplier accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Handle supplier queries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with payment runs and follow proper authorisation procedures.
• Support month‑end closing activities, including ledger reconciliation.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Maintain organised financial records for audit purposes.
• Identify and contribute to process improvements within the purchase ledger function.

Required profile

• Previous experience in accounts payable or purchase ledger.
• Willingness to take on a temporary role initially.
• Ability to commute to the Stockport office.
• Comfortable using Excel at a VLOOKUP level.
