Purchasing Assistant

About the role

Join United Utilities as a Purchasing Assistant, supporting purchasing data management and invoice processing to ensure accurate and efficient procurement operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain purchasing data and documents across SAP, MDM, and D.Cal systems ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Process invoices in SAP via Vendor Invoice Management (VIM), resolve blocked or query invoices promptly.
• Act as the first point of contact for supplier and internal customer queries, delivering service via phone and email.
• Ensure purchasing policies compliance, allocate goods/services to framework agreements, and apply correct commercial coding.
• Monitor and manage unpaid invoices, support reporting and reduce non‑compliant spend.
• Support system improvements and testing, identify simplification opportunities and assist with new technology implementation.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer literacy for managing purchasing data.
• Excellent communication skills for handling supplier and internal customer queries.
• Customer‑focused, service‑driven mindset.
• Knowledge of SAP MM and FI modules or willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy for data entry, coding, and audit compliance.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £18.10 PAYE, paid weekly in arrears.
