About the role
The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support its Procurement Team. The role is based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and involves processing requisitions, sourcing goods and services, and ensuring compliance with NHS procurement regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Process requisitions for goods and services, advising end‑users on the correct route to market.
- Negotiate with suppliers and manage purchase‑to‑pay compliance.
- Handle Board‑wide travel requests, including air, rail and hotel bookings.
- Manage the Warp‑it recycling programme and coordinate with the National Distribution Centre to source alternatives during shortages.
- Provide procurement support for products, works and services up to £50,000, including requirement assessment, supplier identification and competitive quoting.
- Place specialist purchase orders for capital equipment and multi‑function devices.
Required profile
- Understanding of public sector procurement regulations and NHS financial instructions.
- Ability to work autonomously and support end‑users across the organisation.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience handling procurement activities up to £50,000.
