QA Infrastructure Test Engineer

About the role

SiXworks is seeking a QA Infrastructure Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability and security of both physical and Infrastructure‑as‑Code platforms supporting defence and national security missions. You will work across delivery teams applying STLC and Shift‑Left principles from requirements through to release.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse infrastructure requirements and architectures, identify test conditions, maintain traceability and log risks.
• Create test strategies and plans covering scope, environments, tooling, automation and governance criteria.
• Provision and validate test environments in collaboration with DevSecOps, ensuring OS, network, platform services and pipelines meet readiness standards.
• Design and execute functional, integration, regression, resilience, non‑functional and security tests for physical infrastructure and IaC.
• Apply Secure‑by‑Design principles, support security testing and contribute to accreditation and compliance documentation.
• Manage defects with clear evidence, support retesting, produce dashboards and release recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven experience across all STLC phases – analysis, planning, design, execution, reporting and closure.
• Strong knowledge of traceability, risk‑based testing, defect lifecycle management and evidence‑led testing.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps and CI/CD environments.
• Familiarity with MOD testing standards and Secure‑by‑Design principles.
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or TOGAF are desirable.
