Qualified Social Worker – Fostering

About the role

Our client, Suffolk County Council, is seeking a qualified social worker to join its fostering team. You will work directly with children, young people and families, applying the Suffolk Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework to support safe and stable placements.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate and engage with children, young people, families, colleagues and community partners.
• Act as Lead Professional for named families, coordinating multi‑agency responses.
• Conduct assessments, planning and reviews using CAF, multi‑agency and statutory assessment processes.
• Provide evidence‑based interventions and manage case risk, supervising support workers as needed.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and contribute to quality assurance processes.
• Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns promptly.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local professional groups and services.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with experience in fostering or child protection.
• Ability to work within statutory guidance, legal frameworks and service guidelines.
• Strong communication skills for working with families, professionals and community networks.
• Willingness to mentor junior colleagues or students and participate in supervision.
