Quality Inspector – Electronics & Cable Assembly

About the role

Our client in Swindon is looking for a meticulous Quality Inspector to join their electronics and cable‑assembly manufacturing team. You will be responsible for ensuring that every product meets the required specifications and quality standards before it reaches the customer.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out in‑process and final inspections of cable assemblies and electronic products.
• Perform electrical tests such as continuity, insulation resistance and dielectric strength testing.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
• Record inspection results accurately and report any non‑conformances.
• Assist with fault finding, root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Create and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) programmes.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to achieve right‑first‑time manufacturing.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and suggest ideas to boost quality and efficiency.

Required profile

• Experience in quality inspection within an electronics or cable‑assembly manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 and IPC‑A‑610 standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric strength).
• Manual test equipment operation.
• Automated Test Equipment (ATE) programming.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 standard.
• IPC‑A‑610 standard.
• Microsoft Office applications.

What we offer

• Competitive rate of £13.00 per hour.
• Full‑time, part‑time or temporary contracts.
• On‑site role in Swindon with working hours Monday‑Thursday 07:45‑16:15 and Friday 07:45‑15:15.
