RAN Performance Specialist – Air to Ground Network

About the role

The RAN Performance Specialist will ensure optimal performance of the Air‑to‑Ground LTE network that supports aircraft and other high‑altitude platforms. You will work closely with internal teams, external suppliers and government agencies to design, tune and validate RAN features that meet stringent performance and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor network performance, analyse UE logs, Wireshark traces and Nokia system logs to identify under‑performing KPIs.
• Conduct flight‑test log analysis and protocol trace reviews for VoLTE, ESN PTT and data services.
• Perform root‑cause investigations using OSS counters, drive‑test data, coverage and capacity metrics.
• Review low‑level RAN designs, coordinate with design authorities and strategy teams, and ensure end‑to‑end optimisation.
• Liaise with BT internal groups, RAN suppliers, outsourced partners and government bodies to drive performance uplift.
• Provide tooling and analytics requirements to development teams for evolving network monitoring.

Required profile

• Security clearance at SC or NPPV level (National Security Vetting required).
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in large‑scale mobile network performance management.
• Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and manage complex technical projects.
