Recreation Assistant Lifeguard – Full/Part Time

About the role

GLL is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the team at Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading as Recreation Assistant Lifeguards. This role offers both full‑time and part‑time permanent contracts, providing a rewarding career in a vibrant community leisure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through pool duties, supervising swimmers and ensuring safety.
• Maintain a clean and tidy pool area, including regular cleaning and equipment setup.
• Deliver first‑class customer service and respond to visitor queries.
• Support the wider team by preparing studios, gyms or sports halls for activities and assisting with general centre upkeep.

Required profile

• Calm under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent team player with a customer‑focused attitude.
• Passion for swimming and a desire to provide high‑quality service.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up‑to‑date training records, or willingness to complete NPLQ training and pass a swim test.
