Recreation Assistant Lifeguard – Rivermead Leisure Centre

About the role

GLL is seeking a flexible Recreation Assistant Lifeguard to join the team at Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading. You will ensure the safety of pool users while delivering excellent customer service and supporting the overall cleanliness of the centre.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor pool areas, enforce safety rules and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain a clean and tidy pool environment, including regular cleaning and equipment setup.
• Provide first‑class customer service, answering queries and assisting visitors.
• Support other areas of the centre such as studios, gyms and sports halls when not poolside.
• Assist with the preparation of facilities for various activities and events.

Required profile

• Can‑do attitude with a strong focus on customer service.
• Calm under pressure, responsible and comfortable interacting with diverse people.
• Team player who values health and safety standards.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – or willingness to obtain training and pass a swim test.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to aquatic environments.
