Recycling Administrator

About the role

We are seeking motivated Recycling Administrators to join our Food Waste Collection Project in Plymouth. The role is field‑based, acting as the public face of the service and supporting the rollout of a high‑profile, time‑critical waste collection initiative that must be operational by the end of 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customer service to residents and partners, handling street‑scene and waste issues, consultations and problem‑solving (≈30%).
• Visit schools to promote litter collection, environmental initiatives and engage students in community projects (≈20%).
• Liaise with community groups and plan events, ensuring timelines and health‑and‑safety requirements are met (≈20%).
• Undertake enforcement actions in collaboration with other enforcement services (≈15%).
• Maintain compliance with PCC health‑and‑safety standards at all times (≈5%).
• Oversee staff and volunteers at events, prepare risk assessments and ensure the safety of participants and the public (≈10%).

Required profile

• Self‑starter who is proactive, highly motivated and results‑focused.
• Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills with a passion for environmental issues and behaviour change.
• Ability to work both in the field and in a small office environment.
• Willingness to engage with schools, community groups and enforcement partners.
